Joakim's Amanda-related scripts

On this page, several scripts are available to convert from neutralino annihilation rates in the Earth / Sun to either neutrino fluxes, neutrino to muon conversion rates or muon fluxes. The conversion can also be made the other way around.

These scripts use code written by Joakim Edsjö. The code is based on simulations performed with Pythia 6.115 and more details can be found in the publication L. Bergström, J. Edsjö and P. Gondolo, Phys. Rev. D58 (1998) 103519.

When converting between fluxes and annihilation rates or directly between fluxes it doesn't matter if the medium surrounding the detector is ice or rock, but for the neutrino to muon conversion rate, the medium is assumed to be water with a density of 0.92 g/cm3. If you have another medium, you have to convert your conversion rates correspondingly.

The intention of making this code available in this way is to make it simple to convert limits on muon fluxes from neutralino annihilations presented by different experiments with different thresholds and possible different angular cuts. The code itself is rather big and currently not extremely easy to install. If you in spite of this are interested in obtaining the actual code doing the hard work, please contact me.

If you have any questions, please send me an e-mail.

Scripts available

  1. Script to convert from an annihilation rate to either a neutrino flux, a neutrino to muon conversion rate or a muon flux.
  2. Script to convert from either a neutrino flux, a neutrino to muon conversion rate or a muon flux to a neutralino annihilation rate.
  3. Script to convert between either a neutrino flux, a neutrino to muon conversion rate or a muon flux to either a neutrino flux, a neutrino to muon conversion rate or a muon flux (or an annihilation rate). I.e. do both of the above things in one step.

Up one level.
